The editing process, done from English drafts submitted by the authors, comprises three steps:

• A technical editor scrubs the document; that is, proofreads the draft and renders the text clear and concise.

• A researcher in the document’s field ensures the text communicates the ideas and reflects the supporting analysis. Some client input may be required at this stage.

• Finally, a chief editor examines the document to ensure clarity and quality. We do not alter content or tone, we render the documents understandable using simple, professional English.

Is our service secure and confidential?

The materials we handle are the intellectual properties of their respective authors. We endeavor to uphold the highest standards of security and to maintain strict confidentiality in all our client dealings. All the communications and transactions are encrypted using the latest security codes and measures available.

What should a prospective client do?

• The prospective client checks the list of our services and submits a document to receive a free estimate!
• We will provide a cost and time estimate along with an edited sample page of the document to demonstrate the value of our service.
• The client accepts the estimate and the editing begins.
• We send an invoice to the client once the editing is complete. The client can pay this invoice on-line, using major credit cards, or can send us a money order.
• The document is sent back to the client at which point the client may ask for clarification, revision or assistance for up to a week.

What are our credentials?

UP Editing Services is a network of highly qualified researchers and editors. Our staff consists of four Ph.D's and various research associates from different universities. Our editors rewrite your work to make it perfect, without disrupting your distinctive tone and concepts.

How do we receive and return your documents?

We provide our services desktop-to-desktop using email and FTP. In case of client request we use other means such as fax or mail. In some cases formatting) we might require the document's file on cd rom.

How long does it take?

The time involved is a function of length, complexity, and the quality of the original draft, as well as the amount of other editing work we have. However, we usually complete the work within a week.

Following is a short list of services and estimated prices (per page A4, size 12, double spaced) for the editing of scientific articles. These prices are adjustable according to the clients' requirements, volume, and the level of technical difficulty.

• Corrections: Euro 3.--

  Consists of simple corrections, punctuation, and indication of unclear sentences.

• Professional Editing: Euro 5.--

  Includes: 'Corrections', PLUS replacements, additions, and elimination of words, PLUS adjustment of grammar and sentence structure. It does not cover major rewriting, such as reorganisation of the material or scientific criticism of the contents.

• Substantive Editing: Euro 7.--

  Includes:'Corrections' and 'Professional Editing' - PLUS enhancement of the clarity and conciseness of each sentence.
